Visit of a Lecturer from Mexico at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Sciences at UKSW under the Erasmus+ KA171 Program

From May 5 to 9, 2025, the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Sciences hosted a distinguished speaker as part of the Erasmus+ KA171 Program – Ms. Natalia Ysabel Labrin Sotomayor from El Colegio de La Frontera Sur in Mexico.

During her visit, Ms. Labrin Sotomayor conducted a series of 8-hour lectures for students and faculty members of the department. The sessions were met with great interest and provided an opportunity for international knowledge and experience exchange.

The lecture topics covered issues related to the conservation and sustainable management of tropical tree species and the interactions between plants and microorganisms:

  1. Actual situation of tropical tree species: Factors affecting the sustainability of tree species populations
  2. Strategies to evaluate the genetic diversity of tropical tree species populations
  3. Sustainable management and the interactions of plants-microorganisms

Ms. Natalia Ysabel Labrin Sotomayor’s visit was an important step in internationalizing the Faculty’s educational activities and served as an inspiration for both students and faculty to continue their research in the field of tropical biology.
