This October, our University will launch participation in the ClimateAMBASSADORS project, coordinated by Tor Vergata University of Rome. The initiative aims to advance climate education and sustainable development within higher education institutions.
Over the course of 30 months, ClimateAMBASSADORS will design and implement high-quality lifelong learning opportunities focusing on climate change, digital innovation, and civic engagement.
“The implementation of international projects is a key aspect of our University’s activity, encompassing research, teaching, and practical application. We are pleased with yet another success that contributes to the strategic development of the University,” says Rev. Professor Marek Stokłosa PhD , Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Projects.
Alongside UKSW and the coordinating university, project partners include the University of Valencia (Spain), the University of Iceland, and the European University College Association (Belgium).
The project involves the creation and implementation of an accredited ECTS course dedicated to university students. This will be complemented by modern, immersive XR simulations depicting real climate disasters such as floods and wildfires. These tools will provide students with practical, hands-on learning experiences designed to enhance their digital and environmental skills.
Target Groups:
Students, particularly those studying environmental sciences or interested in ecological education and climate awareness. They will gain new skills and knowledge aligned with the EU Green Deal, LIFE, and DigiCOMP frameworks. Students will participate in modular, accredited courses earning ECTS credits and engage in ClimateAMBASSADORS Living Labs to support their local regions.
Academics, lecturers, researchers, educators, and university staff who influence student attitudes and actions concerning climate change and civic engagement. This group will gain new competences through co-developing the course, enriching digital learning materials with XR simulations, and participating in cross-border collaboration to share best practices and introduce innovative curricula.
Local and regional communities and stakeholders, including local governments, NGOs, public authorities, and institutions. They will collaborate with project partners to raise climate awareness, using tools such as the e-Hub platform and e-Dashboard to build synergies and support joint climate actions.
In addition to the course, ClimateAMBASSADORS will introduce Living Labs—interdisciplinary collaborative spaces where students, educators, and local communities co-design solutions to climate-related challenges. Project participants will also develop a Climate Response Mapping Tool and an e-Hub platform offering interactive resources and peer-reviewed panels.
The project will include international training sessions, virtual conferences, webinars, and broad dissemination activities aimed at knowledge exchange and community engagement throughout the project’s duration.
The goal is to empower future climate ambassadors who will actively contribute to the green transition and sustainable development. The project runs until March 2028.
Funding amount: €400,000.
